SUNDAY'S HIGHLIGHTS (all times GMT)

Alpine Skiing — Men's downhill
  • 02:00-04:10

THE MAIN EVENT - Downhill postponed due to high winds

Austria dominated the Alpine skiing in the Sochi Winter Olympics four years ago and Matthias Mayer is hoping to trigger a similar medal avalanche when he defends his men's downhill title at the Pyeongchang Games. However, he will have to wait after the blue riband event was postponed due to high winds.
Mayer's success among skiing's greatest speed merchants was one of nine Alpine skiing medals won by Austria in Russia.
He is set to face fierce competition from Norway's Aksel Lund Svindal, who is chasing his first Olympic Downhill title, and Beat Feuz among others aiming to carry off one of sport's blue-chip events.
Svindal - who won Super G gold, downhill silver and bronze in Giant Slalom in Vancouver eight years ago - bears all the scars from horrific crashes and career-threatening injuries as mementos of a tough life on the piste, But he heads into Sunday's men's downhill as one of the favourites for gold.
On Sunday, on the Gariwang mountain, he will have the biggest stage of all to show that at 35, he can still be the world's fastest man on skis.
It is a 2am start for the men's downhill. And worth staying awake for.

POSSIBLE HEADLINE MAKER

Speed skater Sven Kramer starts off as a huge favourite to claim another gold in the 5,000. The three-times Olympic champion set a world record over the 3,000 metre distance before this event.
He won this event in 2010 in Vancouver and Sochi in 2014 alongside his team pursuit gold.
Kramer will be confident of winning another gold to complete the hat-trick of 5,000m golds.

BRITWATCH

Winter sports are hardly fertile ground for Britain's hardy bunch of enthusiasts in South Korea, but Andrew Musgrave is changing the perception of what can be achieved in cross-country.
He won the Norwegian national sprint freestyle race in 2014 ahead of a number of elite athletes, and now hopes to make a much bigger impact at the Olympics at the third time of asking.
You can watch Musgrave and Andrew Young in the men's 15km Skiathlon at 6:15am on Sunday morning.
