Tennis: Follow all of the matches at the US Open live with Eurosport

After the Australian Open, the French Open, and Wimbledon, the annual international tennis season ends in the United States with the US Open, not to be missed either by the players from all around the world, or by the many spectators who love the thrills it procures.

A flamboyant end to the season

Every year, the US Open closes the Grand Slam season, of which it is last tournament. Bringing together the planet's best tennis players, it is also the climax of the American summer season known as the "US Open Series", and its matches are played over a period of two weeks. The US Open began in 1881 under the name of the "US National Championships", and today it is held in Flushing Meadows Park in New York. Its specificity is that it is played on hard courts, giving exchanges that are quicker than on grass or clay. This makes Flushing Meadows the favourite venue for attacking players, such as, in times gone by, John McEnroe, or more recently Stan Wawrinka, who, incidentally, is the defending champion. The tournament is open to professional players, male and female, and proposes singles, doubles, and mixed doubles matches. Eurosport offers you the possibility of following all of the matches at the US Open live, on Eurosport Player.

US Open 2017: Over 50 million dollars in winnings for the players

The US Open 2017 schedule looks like it will be rich in emotions for the players. With a budget up by nearly 9%, the 2017 edition, which will take place from 28 August to 10 September, will be the first tournament to offer more than 50 million dollars in total winnings (43 million euros), including nearly 4 million dollars for the men's singles and women's singles winners. That should give wings to the many favourites or challengers like Andy Murray, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic or Stan Wawrinka, on the men's side, and Angelique Kerber, Venus Williams or Svetlana Kuznetsova on the ladies side. A notable absence is that of Serena Williams, who will not be competing in the tournament this year. In all, nearly 40 nationalities will be defending the colours of their countries. Starting on 28 August, and right through to the men's singles final on 10 September, all of the matches at the US Open will be watchable on the US Open live stream.
