Wales winger Mark Jones has been ruled out of the Six Nations meeting with France at the Millennium Stadium this weekend after undergoing minor knee surgery on Tuesday.
The Llanelli Scarlets player tweaked his left knee during last week's 18-18 draw with Italy, but the joint reacted and swelled up in 24 hours after he finished the match.
"Mark has undergone a minor surgical procedure following a scan and further assessment," physio Mark Davies said in a statement released by the Welsh team.
"He is ruled out of contention for this weekend's game, but is
expected to make a speedy return to action."
With just one win and a draw from four matches, Wales cannot retain their Six Nations crown but France top the standings and can lift the title with a victory in Saturday's game.
