Ling heads British Shooting squad for Moscow World Championships

Ling took third in the men's trap last summer, 12 years after competing in his first Olympic Games, and it's in that discipline where he will once again look to show his capabilities in Russia.

With a silver in the event in the World Championships in Grenada three years ago, gold is now the only colour the 34-year-old is missing from the competition – helping the team to team trap bronze in 2011.

He'll be joined on the trap startlist by Matthew Coward-Holley and Aaron Heading, while Kirsty Barr, Caroline Poxey and Sarah Wixey shoot in the women's equivalent.

Ling's fellow Rio 2016 Olympian Amber Hill goes in the skeet, looking to build on the gold-medal winning display from the European Games in Baku in 2015.

She shoots alongside 44-year-old Elena Allen in the skeet, winner of four World Shooting Championship and two Commonwealth Games medals, while Steve Scott – who also competed last summer – competes in the double trap.

The competition gets underway on August 30 in Moscow, with Britain's junior and senior members both getting their chance to build experience on the big stage.

"There has been a lot of competition for places across the disciplines and between the juniors and seniors. This demonstrates the strength in depth we have in the team to consider from and the hard work that the athletes, coaches and support team have been putting in.

"We look forward to going into a busy period of the season and the team is focussed on preparations for the European Championships over the next couple of weeks before their attentions turn to the World Championships later this year."
