Gilmartin slipped up with six laps to go as she crashed into the track barriers to end her campaign in the event.
Earlier, Elise Christie eased through her opening heat as she bids for gold in the women's 1500m short track.
Christie saved all her energy for the final lap of her opening race and blown away all her rivals to cross the line first in 2:29.3 seconds.
Gilmartin qualified from the heats with a third place finish but her team mate Kathryn Thomson fell short in fourth.
And in the men's competition, Farrell Treacy was well behind the pack as he failed to advance from the quarter-final stage.
The women's 1500m short track final will take place at 12:09 GMT.
