Geiger leaps to World Cup gold on home slopes

German Karl Geiger produced a superb second run to leapfrog Kamil Stoch and Ryoyu Kobayashi en route to World Cup gold on home hills.
Fans were left in raptures as Geiger, placed third after the first run in Willingen, launched himself into a monster second jump of 150.5m to propel himself to the top of the podium.
Triple Olympic and double world champion Stoch had to settle for silver, his overall score of 307.1 four behind Geiger.
Kobayashi, so dominant in the first half of the World Cup season, was third with a score of 304.7.
The Japanese skier remains top of the overall standings on 1520 points, ahead of Pole Stoch on 1109. Geiger's win lifts him up to tenth on 594.
