Lundby continues to dominate jumping season

Maren Lundby made it four World Cup wins in a row with victory on the normal hill in Japan.

The Norwegian has just nine World Cup wins in her career, with five of those coming this season as the 23-year-old has come into her own and dominated the women's standings.

Lundby recorded the best scores in each of the two rounds, jumping 101.5m with her first attempt to register a mark of 128.7 points.

And her second jump also hit the 100m landmark, meaning she racked up a massive 260.9 points, with closest rival Chiara Hoelzl way back on 219.3.

Russia's Irina Avvakumova took third place with 216.8, while Japan's Sara Takanashi failed to get on the podium, finishing fourth in front of her home fans in Zao.

The result leaves Lundby on 660 points in the World Cup standings, with Germany's Katharina Althaus second on 500 and Takanashi a further 90 points back.

The World Cup continues on Sunday with another competition on the normal hill in Zao.
