Ryoyu Kobayashi returns to winning ways to seal Oberstdorf title

Ryoyu Kobayashi ended his run of five events without a ski jumping World Cup victory by topping the standings in the second competition in Oberstdorf.

The 22-year-old couldn't be matched as he leapt to the title in Germany with an overall score of 427.0 to continue his 2018/19 season dominance.

Kobayashi ‘produces jump of his life’ to win in Oberstdorf

The Japanese youngster set the standard with a leaderboard topping 212.4 points from the first run after jumping 224 metres and accruing an additional 55.5 points for style.
And the Four Hills title winner held his nerve to deliver a tenth World Cup victory of the campaign with an additional 214.5 points to edge Markus Eisenbichler into silver.
The 27-year-old German finished just 0.5 points behind Kobayashi as Austrian Stefan Kraft completed the podium.
Victory for Kobayashi leaves him on a stunning 1351 points in the overall World Cup standings – a mighty 470 points ahead of second-placed Kraft.
