Yuki Ito continued to send the home fans wild as she claimed normal hill victory in Zao to close the gap on World Cup leader and fellow Japanese ski-jumper Sara Takanashi.
In the two previous World Cup events held in Japan this season Ito had finished first and second, with Norwegian Meren Lundby claiming victory last time out.
And as the competition moved from Sapporo to Zao, 2015 World Championship silver medallist Ito was once again giving her Japanese fans plenty to shout about.
Ito finished with a total score of 213.6 to claim her second win of the season, and with compatriot Sara Takanashi down in fifth the lead has been cut to 103 points.
Completing the podium in Zao were Italian Manuela Malsiner – who finished second to record her first-ever World Cup podium – and Irina Avvakumova of Russia who was in third.
Avvakumova sits fourth in the World Cup standings on 422 points, 35 behind Lundby who placed sixth in Zao.
