Allen was a 6-5 winner against Selby in the last eight of the China Championship last week, and again kept his cool in the deciding frame with a 62 helping him over the line.
Selby made 113 and 56 with Allen compiling 66 to better Selby's 65 in the third frame as the first four frames were shared.
Northern Irishman Allen established a 5-3 lead with further knocks of 80, 65 and 57 only for Selby to force the decider boosted by runs of 85, 52 and 63.
But it was Allen who seized his chance to secure a meeting with Ronnie O'Sullivan in the last four.

Selby had earlier shown why he is world number one with a dominant 4-0 win over Liang Wenbo at the Champion of Champions event at Coventry's Ricoch Arena.
Leicester's world champion Selby completed victory over English Open champion Wenbo in 70 minutes courtesy of breaks of an opening 54 and 101 in the fourth frame.
In the afternoon's other match, Joe Perry claimed the first frame against Mark Allen with a 92, but the Northern Irishman moved 3-1 ahead helped by a 60 and 56 in the second and third frames.
Perry kept alive his hope by edging the fifth frame, but Allen closed out the match with an imperious 116 in the sixth frame.
The winner of Wednesday's Group 2 final will face Ronnie O'Sullivan in Friday night's second semi-final.
Two-times former champion O'Sullivan is already through to the last four after winning Group 3 of the event on Monday night courtesy of a 6-2 win over Martin Gould.
Group 4 is played out on Thursday, and involves Shaun Murphy, John Higgins, Judd Trump and Anthony McGill with the winner facing Group 1 winner Ding Junhui in the first semi-final.
The winner of the tournament on Saturday night will earn a cheque for £100,000.
