'Oh wow!' - Hawkins with 'shot of tournament' in semi-final

Hawkins 6-2 Williams

Thanks for joining us today. Hawkins will face Kyren Wilson at 1pm and 7pm BST in the European Masters final on Sunday over the best of 17 frames. It should be quite the contest with Hawkins playing some of the best snooker of his career in Furth.

Hawkins 5-2 Williams (72-0)

A fabulous level of scoring. Williams has done little wrong, but so good from Hawkins. A break of 79 and he is through to his ninth ranking final.

Hawkins 5-2 Williams (64-0)

Just putting the final touches to a terrific victory. He defeated Judd Trump 5-3 from 3-2 behind last night and has raced away from Mark Williams tonight.

Hawkins 5-2 Williams (41-0)

Hawkins seeing the white ball so clearly out there. Just ripping through these balls like he is playing pool. This might be the final frame of the match. Williams forced to play role of spectator since the break.

Hawkins 4-2 Williams (131-0)

411th career century for Hawkins. Has just got stronger and stronger since the restart. 131 break and a 5-2 lead. Needs one more frame to secure a meeting with Kyren Wilson in Sunday's final. The Furth crowd are loving this.

Hawkins 4-2 Williams (84-0)

Looks like a century is coming up for 'The Hawk'. Stunning level of play.

Hawkins 4-2 Williams (52-0)

Brilliant plant on reds by Hawkins to keep the break going and this looks ripe now for a 5-2 lead. Williams has been restricted to only 17 points since the mid-session interval.

Hawkins 4-2 Williams (20-0)

Thumping plant on reds from Hawkins to get access to the green baize in the seventh frame. This all looks a bit ominous for Williams with his opponent beginning to really motor out there.

Hawkins 3-2 Williams (89-0)

A classy contribution of 89 from Hawkins as the 2013 world finalist moves two to the good again at 4-2. Looking for two more frames for victory. Williams being punished for minor mistakes.

Hawkins 3-2 Williams (57-0)

Williams missed a cutback on a red and looks like he is going to be severely punished for the error. Hawkins eases to 51 before picking out a delightful shot with rest on red down a side rail.

Hawkins 3-2 Williams (30-0)

Hawkins first to the punch or pot rather in this sixth frame. Looks to be finding scoring form at exactly the right time after the mid-session interval.

Hawkins 2-2 Williams (75-17)

Clinical break from Hawkins of 67. More than enough to take the frame for a 3-2 lead. Halfway to the final. Williams missed a plant on red and never played another shot in frame.

Hawkins 2-2 Williams (47-17)

Hawkins suddenly seizes the chance to develop more balls around the black and you would file this chance under one of the frame-winning variety.

Hawkins 2-2 Williams (9-17)

If in doubt, pot your way out of trouble. Fantastic shot on a loose red by Willo to get himself in among the balls, but he misses a plant on reds as chance passes onto his opponent.

Hawkins 2-2 Williams (8-4)

Quite a gritty opening to this fifth frame. Neither man content to give easy openings with the tactical heat holding firm.

Hawkins 2-1 Williams (38-71)

Williams powers home the yellow to move 29 ahead with 25 left up. Hawkins needing a snooker otherwise this match is heading to 2-2. And seconds later Hawkins concedes. They head for a break of 15 minutes. Somehow it is all square.

Hawkins 2-1 Williams (38-65)

38 from Hawkins in response, but can't tease in a red along the top cushion. Still work to be done by Williams to get over the line. In goes the red Hawkins missed. Williams 27 ahead with 27 left up. All happening out there.

Hawkins 2-1 Williams (0-50)

Williams racing out to a 50-0 lead before a tricky red stays out the middle bag. Back to a familiar situation this evening.

Hawkins 2-1 Williams (0-8)

You would imagine that might settle Williams down after losing those first two frames. Would have been a real blow to drop three straight frames in that fashion.

Hawkins 2-0 Williams (60-67)

Well, would you believe this. We are heading for a re-spotted black in this third frame. A double on pink is enough for Williams to move seven clear before Hawkins takes out the black. Williams stays composed and a cross double on the black gives him the third frame. Back to 2-1 behind. Epic battle already out there.

Hawkins 2-0 Williams (39-54)

Doesn't get there first time, but does second time. Super escape from Williams, but he is in more trouble seconds later. Again, comes up with a swerve shot to escape from trouble. Lead down to 15 points.

Hawkins 2-0 Williams (31-54)

Down to a safety duel on the colours. Hawkins needs them all. And he has left Williams in a fiendish snooker behind the green in baulk.

Hawkins 2-0 Williams (31-50)

Blistering long red from Hawkins and he has hoovered up a few more balls to give him another chance of the steal, but he misses yellow using the rest. Bit of relief for the Welshman.

Hawkins 2-0 Williams (8-50)

Williams inching towards the winning line and finally getting a frame on the board, but not yet safe with Hawkins looking for a third straight steal.

Hawkins 2-0 Williams (7-41)

All a bit hard going for Williams so far, but he reaches 41 before playing safe. Five reds left on the table. This frame still in the balance.

Hawkins 2-0 Williams (7-7)

Williams rattles a mid-range red. Unexpected miss from the three-time world champion. Has not been playing badly, but just not finishing off frames. Hawkins then breaks down on seven as a blue stays out. Didn't see that one coming.

Hawkins 1-0 Williams (60-50)

Hawkins right back in the hunt in this second frame. Williams snookered on final red. Escapes at second attempt, but has left the red and this is another chance to pinch another frame. Slots brown, springs pink from side cushion and this should be 2-0. In goes blue and pink. Two big steals for Hawkins in first two frames. Both won on the final pink.

Hawkins 1-0 Williams (0-50)

A run of 49 from Williams before a pink fails to curl into a centre pocket. He seems a bit perturbed about that. Hawkins handed a reprieve.

Hawkins 1-0 Williams (0-28)

Hawkins fails to see a long red trouble the pocket and Williams is presented with an opportunity to get his hand on table among the reds.

Hawkins 1-0 Williams (0-1)

Williams won't be overly concerned about losing the first frame. Always good at forgetting about the recent past in matches.

Hawkins 0-0 Williams (66-52)

A 59 clearance to the black from Hawkins is enough to take a first frame that seemed likely to slip away. Williams had his chances, but pays a heavy price for failing to take them. A 11-0 lead for Hawkins.

Hawkins 0-0 Williams (22-52)

Not over the line yet as a tricky red to a corner pocket refuses to drop. Hawkins picks out a plant on two reds to middle to give himself an opportunity to recover.

Hawkins 0-0 Williams (7-47)

Mistake by Hawkins and he has presented Williams with another chance to put this opening frame to bed. Enough reds in the open to see this one out.

Hawkins 0-0 Williams (7-36)

Bit of an error by Williams as he fails to clear the blue spot and ends up snookered. Just the 36. Looks to be in good nick out there.

Hawkins 0-0 Williams (7-8)

First blood to 'The Hawk' this evening. Looking to get the velvety smooth cue action working to effect early on. But a decel using the rest and Williams is presented with chance to get moving.

Welcome back to Furth

Quite an opening semi-final this afternoon with Kyren Wilson edging out Ali Carter 6-5 before a packed house in Furth. Could have gone either way with Wilson leading 4-2 and Carter hitting back to move 5-4 ahead before world No. 8 Wilson finally prevailed.
He will meet Mark Williams or Barry Hawkins in Sunday's final. We have that second semi-final coming right up for you. Boys on baize at 7pm BST.

Carter 5-6 Wilson

Carter offers handshake to Carter. That is the end of an epic semi-final. A 6-5 win for Kyren Wilson and a standing ovation for the players. He will face Mark Williams or Barry Hawkins in the final. We will be back for the second semi-final at 6.55pm. See you then.

Carter 5-5 Wilson (1-66)

Concedes seven points after hitting black. Carter needs to hit red otherwise he will need snooker. Doesn't get there and has left the red for Wilson. That will be that surely.

Carter 5-5 Wilson (1-55)

Carter with a long red crisply slotted, but he misses the brown. Wilson in control and on the cusp of the final. Opts to play a snooker behind green.

Carter 5-5 Wilson (0-54)

Another red is put away by Wilson. Could have gone for a long blue, but opted to keep it tight with a safety shot. Seven reds left on table.

Carter 5-5 Wilson (0-53)

A 53 break from Wilson, but his attempt to splatter the reds does not go to plan. Not on a red and opts for the safety shot. Carter then plays a lovely safety shot behind the brown. Still life in this semi-final.

Carter 5-5 Wilson (0-37)

Wilson trying to make life as easy as possible. Break moves to 37. Looks very promising for the Kettering man at the moment.

Carter 5-5 Wilson (0-8)

Wilson left at the business end of the table with first chance to score.

Carter 5-5 Wilson (0-0)

One wrong move could be fatal at this stage. And Wilson has made a safety error with Carter having chance from distance, but he gets it all wrong. Clear-cut chance gone as red over pocket doesn't drop.

Carter 5-4 Wilson (0-75)

A 75 from Wilson is more than enough to win the frame. Both men head out for a break to compose themselves. A final-frame decider in Furth. The winner will face Mark Williams or Barry Hawkins in Sunday's final.

Carter 5-4 Wilson (0-71)

It had the look of 5-5 about it and it seems that is where we are heading in this semi-final. This time Carter is forced to sit back and suffer as Wilson dissects the table. One tricky brown early in the break, but apart from that, has always looked like Wilson would sprint to the winning line in the frame.

Carter 5-4 Wilson (0-7)

In theory, Carter gets two chances to get himself into the final on Sunday. Anyway, that is the theory. Wilson first to the punch in the tenth frame with a cool cut on a red to a centre pocket. Imagine the Furth crowd would love to see a final-frame decider. Little between these men.

Carter 4-4 Wilson (65-3)

Lovely long red by Carter. Spanks that into the rigging. Looks like he is coming on strong at exactly the right time. Could be moving one frame up with a possible two to play.

Carter 4-4 Wilson (32-3)

Wilson lays Carter in a snooker, but he escapes from danger via two cushions. Solid shot by Carter. Six reds in open for whoever gets the next chance.

Carter 4-4 Wilson (31-2)

Brilliant longish red by Carter to get the ball rolling in this pivotal ninth frame, but he can't keep the break going as a tough cut on red doesn't drop. Back out in the open and Wilson will attempt to recover at this visit.

Carter 4-4 Wilson (0-0)

Wilson has seen enough of this frame. The Furth crowd fully involved in this semi-final. Could fall either way. Both men taking a breather as we head for the defining moments of the match.

Carter 3-4 Wilson (69-8)

Fine run of 69 from the former German Masters champion. 59 left on the table. Should be heading for 4-4 in this semi-final. A best-of-three joust to settle the contest.

Carter 3-4 Wilson (53-0)

This Carter at his pristine best. Keeping tight control of that cue ball and is moving nearer the winning post in this eighth frame.

Carter 3-4 Wilson (1-0)

A red to the middle pocket by 'The Warrior' eludes him and Carter is out of his chair with a keen eye on a table that looks nice to attack. Are we heading level again at 4-4? This is a glorious chance.

Carter 3-4 Wilson (0-0)

Some more tight safety to mark the outset of the eighth frame of a possible 11. Wilson attempts red to green bag. Misses, but doesn't leave anything for Carter to go at.

Carter 2-4 Wilson (74-28)

A fine break of 73 from the 2008 and 2012 world finalist Carter as he claws his way to 4-3 behind. Game well and truly on.

Carter 2-4 Wilson (66-28)

Wilson right to be full of regret because he is being punished for that error. Vital for Carter to win this frame and he is going to achieve that mission in some style.

Carter 2-4 Wilson (1-28)

Sublime pot on a red along the top cushion from Wilson, but he somehow overcuts a red in the open seconds later having reached 24. Looks fairly annoyed as he trots back to his chair. Left plenty of points out there.

Carter 2-4 Wilson (1-0)

How much of a turning point will that sixth frame prove to be? Wilson suddenly only two frames short of the winning line.

Carter 2-3 Wilson (56-63)

Chance for Carter to win frame, but he is straight again from long range on black. Can't get the connection right and Wilson steps in. Slots the black with ease for a 4-2 lead. Wilson winning both re-spotted blacks.

Carter 2-3 Wilson (56-56)

There we are. The re-spotted black for a second time and Wilson is forced to hit the first shot after losing toss. All very tense.

Carter 2-3 Wilson (56-21)

Carter misses a cut on a red to the middle. Bad miss. Leaves red and Wilson has chance to force a re-spotted black. Could be the second one of this semi-final.

Carter 2-3 Wilson (49-14)

Well, this frame the tale of two missed pinks. Carter jaws one to middle on 48 before Wilson does likewise seconds later. Frame wide open with Wilson back at table.

Carter 2-3 Wilson (34-0)

Carter with an outrageous fluke at the start of the sixth frame to get the party started. Up and down the length of the table with a red that didn't touch the sides. More importantly, he is among the balls too after that stroke of good fortune.

Carter 2-2 Wilson (0-87)

No century for Wilson, but a timely run of 87 will do the job. He noses clear by the odd frame in five. Furth crowd certainly enjoyed that effort from the world No. 8.

Carter 2-2 Wilson (0-50)

Wilson looking as eager to impress in this fifth frame as Carter was in the previous frame. This could easily be a one-visit kill after that error by 'The Captain' attempting to run safe.

Carter 2-2 Wilson (0-7)

Carter leaves a red over a middle hole attempting to run safe. Tough opener for Wilson bridging over green, but he negotiates that superbly well. Opportunity to compile a few points.

Carter 2-2 Wilson (0-0)

Here is how Wilson won that second frame to level at 1-1.
picture

'A cocked hat double!' - Wilson produces stellar shot to win frame on respotted black

Carter 1-2 Wilson (128-0)

A majestic break of 120 from Carter to draw level at 2-2. This match is fascinating. Both players finding prime form in Furth. 15-minute break for the mid-session and we'll be right back at it.

Carter 1-2 Wilson (82-0)

Carter being mindful of his business. And he is going to draw level at the mid-session interval. Could be a century coming up too.

Carter 1-2 Wilson (38-0)

Bit of safety joust before Kyren attempts to pick out a tough all-or-nothing red to middle. Doesn't drop and Carter has been left among the balls. Glorious chance to restore parity at this visit.

Carter 1-2 Wilson (8-0)

Immaculate long red from Carter at the outset of this fourth frame. What a fine effort that is. But can only add seven more points as he misses a routine red.

Carter 1-1 Wilson (24-76)

But frame is over seconds later as Wilson picks out the red he needs. Carter one pot on black from leading 2-0, but is suddenly 2-1 down. One more frame before the mid-session interval.

Carter 1-1 Wilson (24-71)

Carter opts to reach 24 and leave two reds on the baize. Then attempts to smuggle in a long red seconds later, but misses. As does Wilson. This frame not yet over.

Carter 1-1 Wilson (0-71)

The 2020 world finalist declares on 71. 67 points left on table with five reds in open. Chance for Carter to recover ground, but he will need one snooker to tie the frame.

Carter 1-1 Wilson (0-58)

Blistering long red from Wilson to the yellow pocket. Brilliant effort and he quickly embarks upon a delightful little knock. Looks good for 2-1 here.

Carter 1-1 Wilson (0-0)

Around an hour of play and two black-ball finishes to the first two frames. Furth crowd getting full value for money.

Carter 1-0 Wilson (60-67)

Wilson goes for a double on black. Misses by miles, but Carter can't slot a longish straight black. So tough to pot that being so straight. Wilson then comes up with a cocked hat double off three cushions to claim the frame. Brilliant finish to frame with that exhibition shot. We are level at 1-1.

Carter 1-0 Wilson (60-60)

Wilson leaves the brown after failing to hole a mid-range pot. Carter comes up with a superb clearance to force the re-spotted black. Wilson wins toss and puts Carter into bat. Nice shot from Carter to leave black on the side cushion.

Carter 1-0 Wilson (38-60)

A spirited 60 break from Wilson, but no done deal as a brown with extended rest doesn't drop. Position from green to brown let him down there. Carter can't force home tough brown from distance. 22 in it with 22 left up. Frame still in balance.

Carter 1-0 Wilson (38-42)

Wilson gets his nose ahead and suddenly has the chance to level at 1-1 with a frame-winning clearance. All there for him to pot.

Carter 1-0 Wilson (38-20)

Fine long red from Wilson to get the ball rolling on this break. Quickly up to 20 with more to come at this visit.

Carter 1-0 Wilson (35-0)

Carter overcuts a yellow on 35. Didn't expect that error. Oohs and aahs from the Furth crowd before Wilson top jaws a red to middle bag seconds later. Tense moments out there.

Carter 1-0 Wilson (34-0)

Carter first to the punch in the second frame of the day. Looks to be in stroke. Very sharp. Solid first red to gain access to the table and that cue action looks spot on.

Carter 0-0 Wilson (67-62)

A classy 34 clearance from Carter to pinch the first frame. What an epic that frame was. Could have gone either way, but Carter produces a cut on the black similar to the one Steve Davis missed in the 1985 world final to take it. No mistake as he got the angles right on. Sore one for Wilson to lose. First blood to 'The Captain'.

Carter 0-0 Wilson (33-62)

Well, Wilson looked to be in business, but a mid-range red eludes him. Rattles the jaws on the cusp of winning the first frame. Carter with chance to launch the counter attack, but will need the colours and a tricky final black.

Carter 0-0 Wilson (5-30)

Wilson so unfortunate. Rolls in the blue, but a plant on reds somehow makes it way into a pocket at top end of table. Didn't see that one coming and neither did Carter as he emerges from his chair. Carter chasing a return to the world's top 16 with a potential run to the final.

Carter 0-0 Wilson (0-21)

Safety error by Carter presents Wilson with the first scoring chance of the match. Obvious chance to get his cue arm working.

Carter 0-0 Wilson (0-0)

'The Captain' Ali Carter given a standing ovation from the crowd as is Kyren Wilson. 'Moves LIke Jagger' is the walk-on song of choice from Carter, who produces a fine break-off shot. Off we go in this one then.

Welcome back to Furth

Could be a match to remember with both of these men in fine scoring form. They last met in the last 32 of the Gibraltar Open this year with Wilson winning 4-1, but this best-of-11 frame match is the longest distance they have collided over. Boys on the baize time.

Semi-final day!

It's going to be a great day as we watch the last four remaining players do battle for a spot in the final. As a reminder these games have moved to be best of eleven, with previous rounds being best of nine.
Kyren Wilson v Ali Carter leads us off before we get Barry Hawkins v Mark Williams.

Hawkins dumps out Trump

Barry Hawkins produced a golden performance to beat Judd Trump 5-3 to set up a semi-final showdown with Mark Williams at the European Masters.
The loss comes after Trump suffered an almighty scare against Farakh Ajaib in the third round at the Stadthalle Furth in Furth. The 2019 world champion required snookers in the final frame to avoid a huge shock and was the beneficiary of a fortunate in-off against Ajaib to avoid the ignominy of defeat against the amateur, but was still far from his best in the quarter-final.
Hawkins quickly established a two-frame advantage against an out-of-sorts Trump. The Bristolian got his hand on the table early in the first frame but missed a fairly rudimentary red. While it took multiple visits, The Hawk drew blood first. A run of 69 soon gave the world No. 12 a two-frame lead.
