Coming into the last session tied at four apiece Trump continued where he had left off as breaks of 54 and 75 saw him open a two-frame lead.
Robertson dug deep and a break of 66 cut the deficit before another half-century saw Trump once again go clear and eventually within one of victory.
An epic safety battle in the 14th frame eventually went Robertson's way as he cut the gap once more.
However he couldn't prevent the inevitable as Trump got in amongst the balls and knocked in his first century of the match to seal victory.
