World champion Graeme Dott and Stephen Hendry both booked their places in the last 16 at the UK Championships on Saturday night.
Dott enjoyed a crushing 9-2 victory over fellow Scot Scott MacKenzie, but Hendry was made to sweat before clinching a 9-7 success over birthday boy David Harold.
Hendry had looked to be cruising against Harold, as he was 6-2 up at the first interval, the Englishman came out a new man in the evening session as he took five of the first six frames to level matter up at 7-7.
Hendry was struggling with his game, but like a true champion, he found his groove again at just the right time to get his game back in gear.
He polished off the last two frames with some great snooker, with a break of 82 clinching the final frame.
Hendry will now play Mark Williams in the next round.
Dott meanwhile, did his hard work in the morning session as breaks of 83, 90, 100, 57 helped him race to a 6-0 lead.
MacKenzie gained a measure of respectability by winning the last two frames of the session with breaks of 57 and 73, but Dott quickly finished off the game in the evening session.
Former world champion Ken Doherty also looks certain to book his place in the third round after taking a 7-1 lead over Mike Dunn.
However, defending champion Ding Junhui faces more of a struggle as he will resume his match with Ryan Day on Sunday level at 4-4.
