Hendry to face Ding

Hendry had looked to be in complete control of the match after the first session when he raced into a 4-0 lead, but Murphy just would not go away as he worked his way back into the match.

In a cagey game of few big breaks, Hendry won the first two frames comfortably, but only took a tight third frame 59-50, before again controlling the last frame before the interval to lead 4-0.

Murphy was all at sea, but the interval seemed to do him good, and he came out fighting when the game was restarted.

A break of 89, the highest of the match, got him on the board, and he followed that up with another winning effort to close the gap to 4-2.

Hendry then produced his best break of the match (72), to go to within one frame of the match, but Murphy reacted to take the next frame and make it 5-3.

Murphy also had chances to make it 5-4 in the final frame, but the consistency in his game was just never there, and Hendry eventually polished off the colours in a tight final frame.
