Zhao Xintong dismisses Shaun Murphy in Riga

Graeme Dott enjoyed a 4-0 whitewash over Ashley Carty, and Joe Perry lost by the same score to Stephen Maguire.

Chris Wakelin defeated Mark King 4-3 to make the third round set of matches.

Stuart Carrington comfortably ran out a 4-1 winner over Zhao Xintong.

Tied at two frames apiece, world number 19 Liang constructed a total clearance of 140, and was only denied a maximum by a lamentable run of the balls.

Having dispatched 12 reds and 12 blacks, Liang potted red number 13 into the yellow pocket but, screwing back for the black, the cue ball cannoned into the 14th red, and in doing so, sent that object ball into the opposing top pocket.

However, the 2017 European Masters champion composed himself to clear the table to put himself on the cusp of the third round.

Marco Fu was defeated 4-3 by Mark Davis in one of the hardest fought matches of the tournament so far.
