Trump, who has been installed as the new favourite to repeat his success in the Northern Ireland Open, took the first frame before a break of 73 saw him swiftly double his lead.
Another half century in the third moved Trump to within a frame of a whitewash win. White had two good chances to get up and running in the fourth, but after missing a tricky red to the middle on 8, he missed a tough black on 15.
It proved costly as Trump completed the comfortable victory, producing another break of 73 to punish White and book his place in the last 64 in just 45 minutes.
Trump said of his win: "I played some good stuff at times, and Jimmy's finishing looked a bit awkward. He's not on TV as much nowadays, so it's always difficult when you're looking for some form and I got into a good lead straightaway.
"My game is there, it hasn't left [since Belfast] and I just have to stay positive. You're going to get a bad game every now and then, and I had that in York.
"I'm just going to take this one match at a time. There's still plenty of good players in the event [without Ronnie O'Sullivan]. It'll be nice to do well here again."
World No 10 Kyren Wilson booked his place into round two with a 4-2 win over Oliver Lines. The Paul Hunter Classic champion enjoyed breaks of 101, 80, 69, 56 and 57 during another impressive display.
But the game wasn't without a slight hiccup for Wilson...
In one of the surprises of the tournament so far former world champion Stuart Bingham was whitewashed by Tian Pengfei 4-0.
Pengfei scored the only half-century break of the match (71) in the opening frame but he still had more than enough for Bingham, who reached had reached the final of the UK Championships last week.
Earlier on Tuesday, UK Championship finalist Mark Allen beat Liang Wenbo 4-2 to progress, while Luke Simmonds prevailed from the battle of the amateurs with Dechawat Poomjaeng, beating the Thai player 4-0.
