UK Championship finalist Mark Allen beat Liang Wenbo 4-2 to progress to the second round of the Scottish Open at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Scotland.
Allen, the International Championship winner, produced runs of 69 and 78 as he set up a second-round clash with Feilong Chen or Fraser Patrick.
Bar a 63 in the third frame, world number 29 Wenbo struggled for fluency throughout, and follows up a first-round exit at the UK Championship with another disappointing showing.
However, the 31-year-old Wenbo may rue World Snooker's decision to protect the top 16 seeds from facing each other until the fourth round, meaning Wenbo, the 24th seed, met sixth seed Allen in round one.
Elsewhere, Luke Simmonds prevailed from the battle of the amateurs with Dechawat Poomjaeng, beating the Thai player 4-0.
