Higgins led 8-0 after the first session of the match and picked up the first two frames of the afternoon session to extend his advantage to double figures.
Lisowski did manage to get on the board with a break of 81 in the 11th frame, but that was all the English youngster managed as Higgins turned on the afterburners to wow the Sheffield crowd with consecutive century breaks to put himself a frame from victory.
The second of those saw the Scot knock in a classy 146 that drew a fist-bump of respect from his beaten opponent.
And Higgins finished the job with a break of 73 in the 14th frame.
On the other touble Mark Williams turned on the style in the afternoon session, building up a 10-6 lead over Robert Milkins.
In the evening session Ricky Walden and Judd Trump played out a very tense period of snooker, which ended as it began, with the two players level.
The pair had got off to quick starts earlier, with Trump rolling in a ton and Walden a break of 90, and they went into the break at 4-4.
However the evening session was littered with errors, as Trump continued to struggle with the blue in particular.
This was despite the 2013 and 2015 semi-finalist knocking in consecutive tons.
Walden battled hard, took advantage of some poor play from Trump and towards the end of the session looked as if he was playing the better snooker.
On the other table Anthony McGill dug deep and fought back against Ding Junhui.
McGill trailed 8-0 after the first session and after Ding extended his leave by one the Scot won three on the bounce.
Ding responded with two of his own but McGill won the 15th to ensure that the two players would have to come back tomorrow.
Ding won the final frame of the evening to make sure he would only need one on Monday.
