Mark Selby beat Ali Carter 13-12 in an epic World Championship semi-final at The Crucible in Sheffield and will now meet Shaun Murphy in the last four.
Selby led 10-6 only to see his opponent level the score at 11-11 after winning three consecutive frames and then again at 12-12.
But the former Scottish Open finalist kept his nerve in the deciding frame to clinch victory with a 58 break.
The "Jester from Leicester" rattled in an 89 break to begin the evening session, winning his fifth consecutive frame to open up a four frame lead in a hitherto tight match.
However the 27-year-old from Tiptree snatched the next and followed it up with a 64 break to reduce arrears to 10-8.
Selby won a marathon 19th frame but then missed on eight consecutive occasions in frame 20 before a 64 break and a clinching pot on the final black drew the world number 15 level.
A 64 run saw the qualifier regain his lead only for Carter to immediately reply with a 78 break to take the game into a tense final frame.
