Trump sets up Higgins final after dismissing Wilson

Judd Trump eased into the World Championship final at the Crucible Theatre courtesy of a 17-11 win over Gary Wilson on Saturday.

Masters champion Trump came into the evening session holding a 14-10 lead and put together runs of 97 and 88 to claim three of the four frames on offer to make the final before the mid-session interval.

The 29-year-old booked a repeat of his only previous final appearance against Higgins in 2011, to whom he lost 18-15.

The best-of-35 frame final begins on Sunday at 2pm.

Trump is 8/15 with bookmakers with Higgins priced at 6/4.

"Me or John haven't been the best players this week, but we've just managed to dig in when we needed to and just get over the line," said Trump.

"We're both very experienced, him especially, just to stay patient and enjoy it when you can.

"We're both very tired - it's mentally draining. I watched John earlier and he was a bit emotional getting back to the final. To be back in the final against him eight years on, it's going to be an epic."

The four-times champion Higgins will be appearing in his eighth final against Trump. He lifted his first world title in Sheffield in 1998 followed by victories in 2007, 2009 and 2011. He has lost the past two finals to Mark Selby and Mark Williams.
