Shaun Murphy: I'm on road to more trophies

The 2005 world champion collected £100,000 for winning his sixth ranking title with a 10-9 win over world champion Stuart Bingham iin Llandudno on Sunday evening in an epic rematch of last year's World Championship final that Bingham edged 18-15.

Murphy has endured an average season since losing to his fellow Englishman in Sheffield 10 months ago.

He has lost the Paul Hunter Classic final to Ali Carter, but admits he had altered his technique and strategy to the detriment of the attacking style that helped him lift the World Championship as a 22-year-old qualifier 11 years ago.

“There are three events left this season, and hopefully more good things for me," said Murphy.

Murphy will start among the favourites to win the Players Championship in Manchester in a fortnight. He faces Liang Wenbo in the first round before the China Open begins on March 28, the final tournament ahead of the World Championship at Sheffield's Crucible Theatre (16 April - 2 May).
