Thanks for your company tonight

That concludes our live coverage of the World Grand Prix final, we hope you enjoyed it. Stay safe and well out there, night night.

Your champion

Judd lifts the World Grand Prix trophy for the third time in his storied career, as confetti falls down around the Marshall Arena again. Snooker will now leave Milton Keynes and relocate to Alexandra Palace in January for The Masters.

Judd Trump is the World Grand Prix champion

What a steely performance from the world number one, and what a high quality final; those 17 frames rocketed by. Judd Trump has won his third ranking title of the season, and the 20th of his increasingly magnificent career. The man is just a relentless winner; that's 13 ranking event titles and the Masters in the last 25 months, which is simply astonishing. It's a rough one for Jack Lisowski, who has now lost all four ranking event finals he's played in, but he took the argument most of the way tonight with a brilliant comeback in the evening session. In his post-match interview, Trump compares that streak by Lisowski to the best that Ronnie O'Sullivan and John Higgins have thrown at him. Unfortunately for Lisowski, he ran into a player that looks like he's transcending into one of the greatest this game has seen; there are still Triple Crowns to be won to pad out that case, but right here and now he is just a formidable match player and hands down the best player in the game.

Trump 10-7 Lisowski

It's tense safety play on the final red, until Lisowski catches a safety just too thick and leaves it on to the right middle. It's a chance for Trump! The green is the only ball off its spot, but Trump plays onto it perfectly from the yellow. He needs to empty the table for the match...and he's done it!

Trump 9-7 Lisowski (39-61)

Trump can't shift out the final red from near the left rail after potting the blue thin into the left middle; that leaves him a difficult long red to the yellow pocket...and he's missed it! The red runs safe, but Lisowski's still in this.

Trump 9-7 Lisowski (33-61)

This guy is something else; he develops a cluster of reds between pink and black spot as soon as possible, plus a red that's hanging out by the right rail, and this is now a great chance. Trump wants this done, right here and now, and he's going for it.

Trump 9-7 Lisowski (0-61)

Lisowski goes into the pack off the black, spreading them nicely but not landing on a red. That's unlucky, but he's soon back at the table after stroking in yet another long red after a safety from Trump doesn't go far enough into baulk. After adding 22 though he makes one of his only errors of the night so far, missing a long red to the bottom right and watching it sit up over the green pocket. There's still 83 on here, can Trump dish for the title?

Trump 9-7 Lisowski (0-31)

What a shot from Lisowski, as he drains another lovely long red right into the heart of the bottom left. He's been fearless tonight. Four reds, three blacks and a pink have gone so far; can he possibly take us to a decider?

Trump 9-7 Lisowski

It's a break of 78 for Trump, as he again pulls away from Lisowski just as he threatened to pull level. What a ruthless match player he's become.

Trump 8-7 Lisowski (74-0)

Trump sails past the winning post in this frame, and he'll need one more for the title.

Trump 8-7 Lisowski (50-0)

It's a scrappy frame, but Trump's in charge of it. He plugs the next red, and then tucks Jack in behind the brown. Lisowski can't connect with a red on the bottom cushion, giving away four, and he's also left Trump on one to the bottom right. This is dangerous for Lisowski, and even more so when Trump brings the black into play.

Trump 8-7 Lisowski (21-0)

Frame sixteen is the first cagey one of the match, and after an exchange of safety shots Trump gets in with a close-up, thin cut on a red to the left middle with the rest. That sends the white into the pack, and he's perfect on pink to right middle. He can only make 21 though before losing position and playing back to baulk.

Trump 8-7 Lisowski

It's an additional 24 from Lisowski, and it's 8-7!

Trump 8-6 Lisowski (0-70)

Lisowksi booms in another red before knocking the brown safe, and then picks off a mid-range red to the bottom right after his safety draws an error from Trump. A quick 16 leaves Trump needing snookers; the difference is going to be cut to just one frame again.

Trump 8-6 Lisowski (0-53)

It's 53 for Lisowksi - that's six 50 plus breaks in a row now tonight - but he can't force position on his next red off the pink and has to play safe.

Trump 8-6 Lisowski (0-31)

Is he going away? Is he heck. Lisowski drills a long, straight red into the bottom left to land perfectly on the black at the start of frame 15. He's soon scoring quickly again, and it's a sign of his confidence that he pots a red right-handed while on the stretch.

Trump 8-6 Lisowski

That's why he's world number one! Pink to right middle secures the frame for Trump. He's been completely outplayed tonight, but has still managed to dish up and nick two frames to keep Lisowski off his tail.

Trump 7-6 Lisowski (42-53)

A potential momentum swing here; Lisowski gets back in with a thin cut on a red to the bottom right, but then rattles his next red in the jaws of the bottom left and it stays out. Can Trump step in and nick this? There are five reds left and he dispatches the lot; the final two are brilliant, with a long red into the green pocket followed by knocking the final red over the left middle off the black. He's on the colours, and it's up to and including the pink for the frame.

Trump 7-6 Lisowski (5-50)

It's yet another half-century for Lisowski, but he's lost position when trying to go into the pack and has to play safe off the blue. Trump then extracts four from Lisowski from a snooker, and then a chance along near the bottom rail after Lisowski escapes, but can't land on the black after potting the red and has to play safe.

Trump 7-6 Lisowski (0-35)

He's in again! Trump misses a long red to the bottom left, and leaves Lisowski a mid-range red to the bottom right to get going in this 14th frame.Lisowski splits the pack early, and then finds a lovely recovery pot on the black with the white near the side rail to keep his break going. He is absolutely flying here, and Trump can do nothing about it.

Trump 7-6 Lisowski

You think Trump's the only one who can do naughty snooker? Two stunners from Lisowski, on the 14th red and then the blue, take him to the brink of a ton until he misses a double on the final red. It's a break of 95, and he now trails by just one frame! In the last four frames, Trump has registered just nine points.

Trump 7-5 Lisowski (0-67)

Frame ball goes and takes Lisowski up to 67. What a comeback - he's only going to be one frame behind shortly, after trailing 7-2!

Trump 7-5 Lisowski (0-46)

The break goes to 46 with a pink into the bottom left, and several aggressive shots into the pack have left a load on for him here. Another frame-winning dish feels inevitable now.

Trump 7-5 Lisowski (0-10)

We're back, and Lisowski clatters in a long red after Trump breaks off in the 13th frame. He's off again; he looks right in the zone here, with his concentration on full yet with a nice, relaxed swagger around the table. What a wonderful elixir momentum is.

Trump 7-5 Lisowski

The twelfth is in the bag for Jack with a break of 86. What might have been a procession tonight has now become a live one; Trump's lead is cut to 7-5, and when we return in 15 minutes after the interval we'll have a right game on.
Just before I go - take heed of The Whirlwind:

Trump 7-4 Lisowski (0-52)

It's another half ton for Lisowski, his fourth break of 50 plus in four frames. What an effort this is from him, and it could so easily have been 6-6 had Trump not whisked the first frame of the evening away from him.

Trump 7-4 Lisowski (0-20)

Now then! Trump's missed a long red down the right hand side of the table, with the ball coughing out and splitting other reds invitingly, and Lisowski can fill his boots here. The black is tied up but he's making a good fist of playing off the pink so far; a bit of composure here and we're looking at 7-5.

Trump 7-4 Lisowski

This is brilliant from Lisowski, who empties the table for a 112. That's back-to-back frames for Lisowski, and if he wins this mini-session we've got a real contest on.

Trump 7-3 Lisowski (8-64)

It's another half-century for Lisowski, as he zones in on another frame. The pink, a nice long red into the green pocket, the yellow and another red into the yellow pocket follow, and it's snookers required for Trump.

Trump 7-3 Lisowski (8-26)

Trump makes 8 before having to play safe, and then goes in-off after a poor safety from Lisowski leaves him a cut on a red to the bottom left. It's Lisowski that's in next, rolling a red deadweight into green pocket; he's up for this, because he was leaving the frame on for Trump there if he missed. He's taking these nicely, and has settled very quickly tonight.

Trump 7-3 Lisowski

This is an excellent break from Lisowski, who has started well tonight and recovered admirably from the disappointment of losing the last frame. He makes 99 before missing the pink for the century, but he’s pulled a frame back here.

Trump 7-2 Lisowski (1-55)

Lisowski's break gets to 50 with a red, and only 59 left on the table. He's on the brink of pegging back a frame here.

Trump 7-2 Lisowski (1-12)

Both players club in a long red to start the tenth, without adding to them. Lisowski then draws a foul from Trump after tucking him in behind the brown, and then gets plum position when Trump escapes but leaves a red on to the right middle.

Trump 7-2 Lisowski

That's gonna smart; a 66 from Trump pinches the frame out of the grasp of Lisowski.

Trump 6-2 Lisowski (47-53)

Trump picks out a speculative plant to get his first point of the night, but no more; though he's back in now as Lisowski misses a long red to the bottom right and he's left Trump right in here. Very quickly, the world number one is back in the frame; he's mopped up the remaining reds with colours and he can nick this one if he can dish up to and including the pink.

Trump 6-2 Lisowski (0-53)

Lisowski clears the half-century in his break, but a loose positional shot means he has to trust to luck when screwing back off the pack when potting a red, and he's on nowt. It's a tidy lead, but he'll be frustrated that he didn't sort that in one hit.

Trump 6-2 Lisowski (0-23)

Lisowski, as he absolutely must, gets away first tonight, hosing a superb long red into the bottom left. He's off, and a frame-winning visit here will do his cause the power of good.

Tonight, tonight

Where Lisowski is looking for his first ranking event win, Trump is chasing the 20th of his career; 12 of those have been hoovered up in the last 25 months. Our MC Phil Seymour has now baized the boys, first to ten then for the World Grand Prix title.

Elsewhere...

The most outrageously gifted sporting icon Britain has ever produced (oh yeah, I took it there) is finally up for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award tonight. Do the necessary.

Good evening!

Welcome back to live coverage of the evening session of the World Grand Prix final. Judd Trump holds a 6-2 advantage after the afternoon session and needs four more frames to secure his third ranking event title of the season. A mountain for Jack Lisowski to climb, then, if he’s to win the first ranking event title of his career.

---

Judd Trump takes a commanding lead

That green ball was huge in the context of this final, and Trump took it to establish a comfortable advantage going into the evening session. We'll be back from 6.45pm for the denouement of the World Grand Prix final, see you later.

Trump 6-2 Lisowski

A nightmare for Lisowski, as he gets a double kiss on his safety on the green and leaves it as a thin cut to the bottom left for Trump. In it goes, and when Lisowski later leaves the brown over the yellow pocket he concedes the frame.

Trump 5-2 Lisowski (64-40)

Lisowski clears the reds, then the yellow, and tries to shift the green rather than drop in behind it. He fails to get anything more than a glancing connection though, and has to play it safe. We're down to the last five balls, and its a big moment in this final.

Trump 5-2 Lisowski (64-0)

Well now! After needing to call in the Thunderbirds at several points to keep his break going, Trump misses a simple frame ball red to the right middle! That's so careless, and there's still 67 out there for Lisowski to pinch the frame. There's one awkward red near the bottom cushion and the green is near the rail, but everything else is set fair; what have you got, Jack?

Trump 5-2 Lisowski (35-0)

This is a hard slog for Trump early on, with pink and black tied up and the white having to do an awful lot of mileage through baulk. He's freed the black up now though, and one decent contact on a cluster of four reds near the pink spot will open up the path to a 6-2 lead.

Trump 5-2 Lisowski (5-0)

This is a huge frame for Lisowski, which will determine whether he's two or four frames behind when we resume tonight. He throws the cue at a red to the bottom right, missing by a long way and catching a kiss off two reds to land in the middle of the table. It's only left Trump a thin cut on a red to the bottom right, but Trump snicks it in and lands on the green.

Trump 5-2 Lisowski

It's 77 for Lisowski, his best visit of the day, and he cuts Trump's lead to three frames.

Trump 5-1 Lisowski (4-53)

It's a much-needed half-century for Lisowski, as he drops in the black and opens up a small cluster of reds below the pink spot. He should sort the frame from here.

Trump 5-1 Lisowski (4-15)

Lisowski goes all out for a red to the bottom right, having to dig right into the white near the top cushion, and misses it by a long way. That leaves Trump an awkward cut on a red to the left middle; he makes it, but can only add a green before running out of position. Lisowski gets in next though, drifting a red into the bottom left to land on the blue, and he's in.

Trump 5-1 Lisowski

It's a break of 75 for Trump, who now leads by four frames.

Trump 4-1 Lisowski (61-1)

A black after the 11th red leaves Lisowski needing a snooker in this frame. Impressive stuff from the world number one, and not a little scary for the rest of the tour that he still has other gears to go into if needed.

Trump 4-1 Lisowski (18-1)

This one could bruise as well. Lisowski gets in with a lazy red into the bottom right, but then misses a routine yellow to come back down the table and he's left Trump right in here. It's looking ominous for Lisowski, both in this frame and the final in general.

Trump 4-1 Lisowski (18-0)

Oof, this is a rough one for Lisowski at the start of the sixth. Trump has a yahoo at a long red to the bottom right, which misses by a wide margin but rockets up the table, clips off the green and drops softly into the right middle. That's an outrageous fluke, but Trump only makes 18 from it before overhitting a positional shot and having to tuck Lisowski in behind the pink in baulk.

Trump 4-1 Lisowski

Trump tags in the final red to settle the argument, followed by a bit of naughty snooker, and he extends his lead to three frames.

Trump 3-1 Lisowski (61-19)

Only 11 for Trump as he misses a simple pink off its spot, but Lisowski now needs two snookers.

Trump 3-1 Lisowski (51-19)

A chance for Lisowski, as Trump is forced into a thin cut on a red to bottom right to recover position, and he misses it. Lisowski gets to 19 on an awkward table, but misses the final open red to the right middle. Trump then pulls out a sensation thin cut on that red to the same pocket; that's the shot of the match so far.

Trump 3-1 Lisowski (42-0)

It's only 41 for Trump as his attempt to split the pack off two cushions from the blue goes awry, and he lands on nothing inviting. He's quickly back to the table though as Lisowski leaves him a plant to the bottom left, and this is now a great chance to bank another frame.

Trump 3-1 Lisowski (20-0)

We're back, and it's immediate trouble for Lisowski as he catches a red on the side rail with his safety and leaves Trump on choice of reds in the centre of the table. There's a load on here, and Lisowski can't afford to give up too many opportunities like this.

Trump 3-1 Lisowski

The first black of the frame goes in after the last red, part of a superb total clearance of 122. That's the lead at the interval, see you again in 15 minutes.

Trump 2-1 Lisowski (62-0)

Trump clips in frame ball red to the bottom left, a harder shot than it needed to be after losing position slightly off the pink. That doesn't matter now, because he'll have a two frame lead at the interval.

Trump 2-1 Lisowski (54-0)

It's a rapid half-century for Trump, who's picked these off nicely with blues and pinks as the black is tied up. There's enough out in the open here to sort this frame in one visit.

Trump 2-1 Lisowski (10-0)

Trump's in first in frame four, stroking a red into the bottom right to come back up for the yellow. He's soon into the pack off the blue, with reds going everywhere, and he's on one to the bottom right.

Trump 2-1 Lisowski

Lisowski eventually sticks the final red up over the right middle, and Trump dishes up a few more points to take the third frame.
A quick reminder for everyone here: snooker's Mozart is up for Sports Personality of the Year tonight.

Trump 1-1 Lisowski (85-42)

Another reprieve for Lisowski, as Trump misses a cut on a red to the bottom left with the extended rest with the winning line approaching. It's a big ask given the position of the final three reds, and he can only get eight down before missing a double on a red to the right middle. Said red then sits up over the green pocket, and Trump tags it in followed by the black. Lisowski now needs a snooker, and more on top as he clips the pink on his next safety shot.

Trump 1-1 Lisowski (46-34)

Lisowski's lost the white again, and misses a difficult red to the bottom left as a result. That's opened the reds right up, but it's only left Trump a difficult cut on one to the bottom right. He can't convert it, and that's left Lisowski a red to the right middle. It should be a reprieve for Jack, but he only adds a red and blue before missing a red to the bottom right and leaving Trump right in now.

Trump 1-1 Lisowski (46-0)

Trump's break ends on 15 as he fails to manufacture position on the black. A few shots later he makes an utter hash of a safety shot, catching a red far too thick, and leaves Lisowski an easy red to the bottom right. He's way behind, but there's plenty to go at here for Jack.

Trump 1-1 Lisowski (32-0)

A great break from Trump, putting the white close in behind the yellow, draws a hefty 31 points in fouls as Lisowski struggles to find the angle to wither drop on a red near the bottom cushion or glance a red for a two-cushion escape. After it’s finally achieved, Trump then glides in a red to the bottom left and he’s away in frame three.

Trump 1-1 Lisowski

He's taken it! Lisowski cleans up the final two reds and the colours up to the pink, and we're all square.

Trump 1-0 Lisowski (44-38)

Trump adds 22, but clips a red when trying to drop in behind it and leaves a nasty cut down the rail to the bottom left with the rest. It goes close, but it rattles and stays in the jaws. What a chance now for Lisowski!

Trump 1-0 Lisowski (22-38)

Well now, interesting! Just as he looked set to mop up what was left, Trump misses a black off its spot. He's not left anything easy though, so Lisowski plays a speculative plant that misses but sends the white back to baulk. At his next visit though, he leaves the frame at Trump's mercy, wildly missing a red to the bottom right and leaving Trump an easy starter to the left middle.

Trump 1-0 Lisowski (0-38)

Lisowski loses the white when potting a red to the bottom left, leaving him welded to the side cushion. He takes on the black but rattles it out of the bottom right; that's left Trump in and with a great chance to counter.

Trump 1-0 Lisowski (0-21)

That's more like it from Lisowski, as he gets going in the second frame with a long red into the yellow pocket to land on the brown. He's soon down to the business end of the table, and he's taking these nicely. We're only a frame and a wee bit in, but this feels like an important visit in the overall context of the final.

Trump 1-0 Lisowski

The world number one takes the first frame of this final.

Trump 0-0 Lisowski (75-0)

It's a 75 for Trump as he misses a red to the left middle, with the frame long since secured. Lisowski comes to the table to pot a few balls and get his cue arm going.

Trump 0-0 Lisowski (50-0)

The ninth red takes Trump to his half-century. He's in good touch here, and looks nailed on to take this frame and maybe land a century right off the bat.

Trump 0-0 Lisowski (20-0)

Lisowski misses his first three long reds. On the first two he doesn't leave anything, but the third sits up near the green pocket for Trump to gobble up. The first scoring chance to the world number one then, and he's up to 20 and counting already.

Let's have it then

Our MC Phil Seymour is bringing out the players. Best of 19 then for the World Grand Prix title, let's go!

The Big Lisowski

It’s been a great week for young Jack, who has reached a ranking event final for the first time since the Scottish Open a year ago. The words ‘ranking event final’ might jar with him a little; he’s been in three in his career so far and is yet to come out on the winning side in one. He took out Mark Selby in the semi-finals yesterday though; can he spring another upset here today?

A little respect

What a leg-lock Judd has the game in right now. His start to the 2020-21 season in this little bubble in Milton Keynes has been absolutely awesome. This is his fifth final in eight tournaments, and he has two ranking event gongs to his name out of all that. It’s a record that should command attention. ‘If it was someone else,’ Trump said this week, ‘it would be a lot more publicised.’ If he keeps banking these ranking events, people will be forced to sit up and take notice.

Good afternoon!

Welcome to live coverage of the World Grand Prix Final from the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes. It’s a cold, harsh world out there right now, so settle in and warm your soul with the last ranking event final of 2020. We’ve got a belter of a match coming up, as world number one Judd Trump takes on his good pal Jack Lisowski for the title.

It's not just about the World Grand Prix for snooker fans...

Ronnie O'Sullivan is in the running for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award for the first time - with the British public voting for the winner on Sunday.
It comes after a fine 2020 in which the Rocket won the World Championship and also reached the final of the Northern Ireland Open.
His world title - coming in his record 28th consecutive Crucible appearance - was his sixth, taking him to 37 ranking titles over the course of his career, and 20 in the Triple Crown series.
O'Sullivan was 44 years and 254 days old when he beat Kyren Wilson 18-8 in that final, making him the oldest player to win the tournament since his former mentor Ray Reardon 42 years ago.
Cricketer Stuart Broad, jockey Hollie Doyle, boxer Tyson Fury, F1 driver Lewis Hamilton and footballer Jordan Henderson are the other stars in the running, with the awards starting at 8pm and a result expected around 10pm.
