Anna Gasser takes Big Air World Cup win in Milan, GB’s Katie Ormerod second

Reigning world champion Anna Gasser starred to take a commanding Big Air victory in the season-opening Snowboard World Cup in Milan.

The Austrian failed with her first jump, but resulting efforts of 86.00 and 74.25 propelled her to the top of the standings with a combined score of 160.25 points.
Great Britain’s early front-runner Katie Ormerod showcased her Olympic medal credentials by taking second with 143.25 points (76.50 and 66.75).
Switzerland’s Sina Candrian took third (130.25) ahead of Norway’s Silje Norendal (125.50).
Ormerod is one of GB’s leading hopes in Pyeongchang next February in both the snowboard slopestyle and debuting event Big Air.
In the men's event, the United States claimed a podium clean sweep as 18-year-old Chris Corning triumphed with a score of 182.75 points (89.50 and 93.25).
Compatriots Redmond Gerard (163.00) and Kyle Mack (161.50) completed the 1-2-3.
