Nao Kodaira stormed to her 18th 500m World Cup title with a superb performance on home soil in Obihiro to mark a perfect day for Japanese sprinters.
The Olympic champion finished in 37.29s after recovering from a slow first 100m, beating Austria's Vanessa Herzog (37.65s) and Russia's Olga Fatkulina (37.87s).
Nana Takagi won Japan's second title of the day, edging out the Netherlands' Irene Schouten and Korea's Bo-Reum Kim to win the first ladies' mass start event of the campaign.
After a slow start to the race Germany's Claudia Pechtstein tried to burst clear but was quickly reeled in, before Takagi outsprinted Schouten and Kim to win.
Elsewhere, USA's Brittany Bowe won the 1500m title, just beating Japan's Miho Takagi and Russia's Yekaterina Shikhova, while Russia's Denis Yuskov took the men's title.
His compatriot Pavel Kulizhnikov took the men's 500m title while Italy's Andrea Giovanni claimed victory in the men's mass start.
