Jonathan Rea picks up first win in 2018

Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki) clinched his first victory of 2018 in Race One in Thailand – bouncing back from a disappointing opening weekend in Australia.

The Kawasaki rider briefly slipped to third after starting on pole position, but came through strongly to secure a comfortable win ahead of Xavi Flores (Ducati).
Chaz Davies (Ducati) edged Leon Camier (Honda) in a frantic scrap for third, while early championship leader Marco Melandri (Ducati) finished down in eighth.

Final lap: Jonathan Rea wins Race One in Thailand

Rea, who finished fifth and second in first round races at Phillip Island, is closing on Carl Fogarty's record of 59 World Superbike wins. Rea has 55.
The Northern Irishman trails Melandri by two points in the overall standings ahead of Sunday’s Race Two.
