Adam Peaty won his fourth gold of the European Championships as he was part of Great Britain's 4x100m medley team that powered to victory on Thursday.
The Russians started brilliantly in the backstroke with Kliment Kolesnikov storming to a time of 52.77.
However Peaty dragged Great Britain back into the lead with a time of 57.60 before James Guy cemented that position with 50.91
Duncan Scott brought home the victory with Russia having to settle for second in the wake of an incredible team performance from the Brits.
Great Britain's women had no answer to Russia in their 4x100m medley but they secured a dramatic bronze ahead of Italy.
Going into the final leg the Italians were second with Britain third but as Denmark overtook both countries Freya Anderson narrowly edged it to take the final medal.
