Spain claimed the gold medal in the combination free routine final on Sunday at the European synchronized swimming championships in Madrid. The Spaniards, leaded by three-times medalled Gemma Mengual, came first with a total of 97.900 ahead of Italy (95.5
Raquel Corral, Andrea Fuentes, Tina Fuentes, Gemma Mengual, Ana Montero, Gisela Moron, Irina Rodriguez, Alicia Sanz, Ione Serrano and Paola Tirados performed an impressive routine under the acclamations of their fans.
"We form a great combination team because we have a great punctuation in other three modalities," said Alicia Sanz, one of the swimmers.
The synchronized swimming events are now all over in Madrid.
The swimming events are due to take place in the Spanish capital from Tuesday 10 May to Sunday 16.
