Tokyo 2020 - Great Britain's Mahama Cho knocked out by China's Sun Hongyi in heavyweight taekwondo Round of 16
Cho had hoped to become Britain's first male takewondo gold medallist but lost to China's Sun Hongyi on golden points. Cho, who played semi-professional football as a teenager, won a silver medal at the 2017 World Championships in Muju, South Korea. The British heavyweight could yet have a chance at a medal via the repechage if Sun advances to the final.

Should Sun Hongyi advance to the final of the +87kg competition at Makuhari Messe Hall then Cho would be entered into the repechage rounds.
Cho took an early 4-2 lead in Round 1 of the match, but Sun levelled things up in Round 2. A scoreless Round 3 followed but Cho was knocked out after Sun struck the first blow in Golden Point overtime.
