The 28-year-old, who was British No 2 has decided to play for the country of his birth again, despite becoming a British citizen two years ago.
It comes after new International Tennis Federation rules prevented him from competing for Britain in the Davis Cup or the Olympics, which he says is a big goal for him.
He wrote on Twitter: "I have proudly called Britain my home for the last nine years and so many people there have made me feel welcome both in the UK and abroad."

"I am also particularly grateful for the support the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) have shown me in that time and in fighting my case for GB Davis Cup eligibility.
It was a dream of mine to be able to compete for a country that has given me so much in the Davis Cup.
The LTA released a statement, saying it respected the move.
"We have always been realistic with regard to the ITF's eligibility appeals process and supported Aljaz's battle to secure his Davis Cup eligibility for Great Britain," the statement read.
"It is a shame that this case did not warrant an exception, but we absolutely respect Aljaz's wish to fulfil his international ambitions at both Davis Cup and the Olympics."
Bedene's claim to represent Britain has divided opinion, with Andy Murray supporting the move and hoping he could join him for the Davis Cup success in 2015. However, Dan Evans, who is serving a one-year ban for cocaine use, said the LTA were 'desperate' in their attempts to promote Bedene to the team.
