Bernard Tomic was bounced out of qualifying for the European Open in Antwerp as his season continued to go from bad to worse.
Former world number 17 Tomic has only won one match since Eastbourne in June, and a 6-7 (3-7), 5-7 defeat to 29-year-old Aldin Setkic of Bosnia and Herzegovina continued his malaise.
He beat Joao Sousa in the last 32 of the Japan Open a fortnight ago, but has suffered five defeats in six matches in has slumping to number 144 in the world.
Tomic is likely to need a wildcard for the Australian Open in January with a higher ranking of 105 required for direct entry.
He may need to qualify for the season's first Grand Slam tournament, a problem he was last faced with when he was 15 in 2008.
