It was the first time that Henman has ever beaten Murray in what was the fourth meeting between the two players.
The key game of the match proved to be the tenth game when the first set was on the line.
Murray had fought back from being 2-5 down in the set, to make the score 4-5 and then he proceeded to put Henman under huge pressure as the former British number one looked to serve out the set.
Two double faults and a number of other unforced errors from Henman, helped Murray to build up five break points, but Henman showed great resilience to save them all, before finally clinching the set with a drop shot.
The second-set proved to be a more comfortable affair for Henman, as he quickly raced away to a 4-0 advantage.
Murray, who had just arrived in Thailand after a busy weekend in Ukraine with the British Davis Cup team, was visibly tired as he lost his second service game of the set with a double fault.
He managed to get his serve sorted out before the end of the set to put a couple of games on the board, but he couldn't break Henman who clinched what will be an immensely satisfying win with surprising ease.
