Jamie Murray secured his first Masters 1000 title in Cincinnati on Sunday as the Scot and men's doubles partner Bruno Soares laid down a marker ahead of the US Open.
The final major of the tennis calendar, where Murray won the Mixed Doubles last year with Martina Hingis, starts on Monday (August 27).
Murray and Soares were knocked out in the quarter-finals in New York 12 months ago but appeared in fine form at the Cincinnati Masters last week.
The fourth seeds led Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah 4-2 in the opening set before four straight games for the Columbian pair saw them steal the opener.
Murray and his Brazilian partner recovered to take the second set 6-3 before snatching a tense champions tie-break to take the title with a 4-6 6-3 10-6 victory.
It was the perfect redemption for the pair who had lost to France's Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut in the Cincinnati final last year.
The success is their second title this month, following on from their Citi Open success in Washington, and Murray was thrilled with the manner of their victory.
"For me to win my first Masters [1000] is obviously really exciting," he said.
"It’s been an awesome week for us. To win the matches that we did against all top teams that are probably going to play (ATP Tour Finals) in London.
"We played really good in the important moments, kept it together well.
"We had a set back at the end of the first set but held it together, came back strong in the second set and really happy with how we finished the match."
