The world number four was better in the bigger points than his opponent despite some fine play from Monfils at various stages.
Unfortunately it just wasn't enough as Djokovic showed his experience on grass to take the victory in straight sets, his second tour win of the year.
For Monfils it was a tough turnaround having gone to three sets on Friday evening against compatriot Richard Gasquet.

Monfils suffered a nasty looking knee injury during the match against Gasquet as he slipped on the court whereas Djokovic made light work of Daniil Medvedev.
Djokovic finishes the tournament without a set dropped and he has now beaten Monfils 14 times, more than any other opponent.
It is the first time that Djokovic has played at Eastbourne, a sign of how seriously he is taking his Wimbledon preparation after a tough 2017.

Djokovic, a Wimbledon winner in 2011, 2014 and 2015, is on the same side of the draw as seven-time winner Roger Federer with potentially either Rafael Nadal and reigning champion Andy Murray waiting in the final.
