Tennis news - Novak Djokovic rolls past Marin Cilic en route to ATP Finals semi-finals

Novak Djokovic beat Marin Cilic 7-6(7), 6-2 in a decisive end to the round-robin stage of the ATP World Tour Finals.

Djokovic had one chance to break in the first set, in the sixth game, but failed to capitalise there; instead he took advantage in the tie-break.

Cilic saved three break points to open the second set, but could do nothing in game number five, when the world number one got the first break of the match - which proved to be decisive.

After that the Croat dropped serve once more, giving Djokovic a gift of a chance to see the match out on his own terms.

This encounter was essentially a dead rubber - Djokovic had already secured his place in the semi-finals and Cilic knew he would be unable to progress.

Djokovic now faces Kevin Anderson on Saturday.
