GAME, SET AND MATCH! - NADAL 6-3 6-2 6-2 EBDEN. Nadal overcomes a wobble to claim victory on his second match point from deuce after Ebden had taken advantage of some nervy play from the Mallorcan to earn a break opportunity.
The world No.2 had a mini scare midway through set one, but from then on was a cut above as he swept aside Matty in one hour and 56 minutes.
He marches into round three and could yet meet a third straight Aussie for Nadal next. Rising star, Alex de Minaur is currently locked in a final set battle with Swiss qualifier Henri Laaksonen.

BREAK! - NADAL 6-3 6-2 5-2 EBDEN. Nadal cranks up the heat once more at 15-30, leading a booming Aussie voice from the crowd to beg: 'give him a chance!'
Nadal's too much of a professional for that, but Ebden does fight back to lead 40-30 before the Spaniard applies pressure from deuce.
At break point the King of Clay digs out a ridiculous lobbed pass up the line and stands tall to finish it off at the net. Ebden is furious and slams his racket to the ground. He tried everything, but again it simply wasn't good enough. Nadal will now serve for the match.

NADAL 6-3 6-2 3-2 EBDEN. Huge roars from the crowd as Ebden hits back from the jaws of defeat to just about stay in contention. Nadal has two bites at the break and should do it at 30-40, but fluffs a number of volleyed attempts at a winner before smashing into the net. The miss raises a wry smile from the King of Clay, who loses the momentum and allows the Aussie back in to pull off a super hold.
NADAL 6-3 6-2 3-1 EBDEN. At first, Ebden is left gesturing to his team as if to say 'what can I do about that?' as Nadal unloads that famed forehand. The Spaniard appears to be in cruise control at 40-0 but rather surprisingly sees the wheels come off. The crowd get behind Ebden at deuce, but Rafa retorts with a pair of aces to consolidate after going the long way around.

NADAL 6-3 6-2 0-1 EBDEN. The Aussie may be down, but he's not quite out of it yet. He's still keen to keep fighting and manages to keep Nadal at bay after being pressed to deuce, landing a sixth ace o the match before benefitting from a miscued crosscourt backhand attempt from the world No.2.

The Spaniard unloads the series of forehand blows to tee up double break point and duly forces another error from his opponent to claim the double break. He will now serve for a two-set lead.
NADAL 6-3 4-2 EBDEN. Nadal easily maintains his advantage, shrugging off an unforced error off the forehand at 40-0 up to take the game in the ensuing point. Ebden is still inflicting the occasional blow, but it appears Rafa has got the measure of the Aussie's quick-fire hitting now.
NADAL 6-3 3-2 EBDEN. That's got the Aussie crowd pumped and shouting words of encouragement to the home player. Ebden executes a lovely disguised drop shot from deep to claim a hold to 15 and stay in touch.
