TSITSIPAS 3-6 2-6 4-3* NADAL: He may be struggling to find an opening on Nadal’s serve but you have to hand it to Tsitsipas this set, he’s looking comfortable on serve – this time a hold to 15!
10:28
TSITSIPAS 3-6 2-6 *3-3 NADAL: Tsitsipas not getting a look-in on the Nadal serve, and again the Spaniard holds to love. Heading for a tie-break at this rate, unless…
10:25
TSITSIPAS 3-6 2-6 3-2* NADAL: The spell is broken as after 19 points this set the returner finally gets a point. It only makes it 40-15, though, and Tsitsipas holds a point later.
10:22
TSITSIPAS 3-6 2-6 *2-2 NADAL: May as well start copy and pasting, it’s a love hold for Nadal and we’re getting through this set in double-quick time.
10:17
TSITSIPAS 3-6 2-6 2-1* NADAL: Tsitsipas holds to love again! That’s 12 service points in a row for the fifth seed, and those are good early signs that we could have a contest in this third set.
10:15
TSITSIPAS 3-6 2-6 *1-1 NADAL: Rapid hold! To love from Nadal this time, and what Tsistipas would give for another himself now.
10:11
TSITSIPAS 3-6 2-6 1-0* NADAL: Tsitsipas really needs a solid start to this third set, and he manages just that, holding to love!

TSITSIPAS 3-6 2-6 *0-0 NADAL: A familiar start to a Nadal service game, but he reels off four points in a row to seal the second set. One-way traffic this, is there any way back for Tsitsipas?

'Great defence' - Nadal wins epic rally with stunning winner

TSITSIPAS 3-6 2-5* NADAL: Tsitsipas probably already looking towards the third set himself but a confident hold to love at least makes Nadal serve for this second set.
09:59
TSITSIPAS 3-6 *1-5 NADAL: Nadal stops that run of losing the first point on his serve, not like it was deterring him anyway. He has been utterly dominant so far and a love hold takes the Spaniard to one game away from the second set.

TSITSIPAS 3-6 1-4* NADAL: Nadal has Tsitsipas right where he wants him and another winner makes it 0-30 on the Greek’s serve. Tsitsipas battles back though and a huge backhand helps him recover to 30-30. Tsitsipas brings up game point but another remarkable winner, this time from Nadal, takes us to our first deuce of the match. Nadal then benefits from a net cord to bring up break point, audibly saying “sorry” in the process, and a backhand into the net from Tsitsipas hands Nadal another break!
09:49
TSITSIPAS 3-6 *1-3 NADAL: Again, that’s six games in a row where Nadal loses the first point on serve – he’s yet to face a break point. That looks like a possibility at 15-30 but as we pass an hour of this match Nadal turns the game around with an ace and then holds with a fierce forehand winner.
09:43
TSITSIPAS 3-6 1-2* NADAL: A confidence-boosting hold from Tsitsipas, who sends down a couple of aces to get on the board in this second set.
09:40
TSITSIPAS 3-6 *0-2 NADAL: Nadal loses the first point on serve again – the fifth service game in a row now – but he wins another lengthy rally to make it 15-15. The second seed then benefits from Tsitsipas’ over eagerness to consolidate the break.

TSITSIPAS 3-6 0-1* NADAL: What a start to the second set for Nadal, who stamps his authority on Tsitsipas’ serve for the second straight game. The Spaniard breaks, and already it’s advantage Rafa!
09:32
TSITSIPAS 3-6 *0-0 NADAL: Not a deuce game in that first set but it’s hot and humid in Melbourne so both players have just headed off for a comfort break before this second set. As pointed out by the Eurosport commentary team, Tsitsipas just tried to force the issue too much in that first set, with 12 unforced errors to Nadal’s five. Maybe attacking the point less could help the fifth seed fight his way back.

TSITSIPAS 3-6 *0-0 NADAL: For the fourth straight service game Nadal loses the opening point, and it puts him on the backfoot once more as a cracking return from Tsitsipas makes it 15-30. Pressure now on the Nadal serve, but the Spaniard wins the next two to bring up a first set point… A serve out wide forces Tsitsipas into the net and it’s Nadal who takes the first set!

TSITSIPAS 3-5* NADAL: Sweat on the court… Or bird droppings? Maybe a mixture of both! But Tsitsipas wants the court wiped right by where he is serving to start this eighth game. It doesn’t distract the fifth seed from the task at hand as he motors to 30-0, but Nadal fights his way back, winning the next three points to bring up the first break point…. And a forehand into the net hands Nadal the break! What a crucial time to do it. Nadal now serving for the set.

TSITSIPAS *3-4 NADAL: Another double fault from Rafa, who then finds the net and suddenly it’s 0-30. Nadal’s serve then gets him out of trouble with two unreturned serves before prevailing in a 25-shot rally to go 40-30 up. A Tsitsipas error later, Nadal holds. No breaks, no break points, still on serve.
