HELLO Gael Monfils or Matteo Berrettini. Who will make the Australian Open semi-finals? This should be a good one.

Special winner on the stretch from Monfils, firing it straight down the line. Unfortunately for the 17th seed that's his only point of the game as Berrettini serves it out with an ace.

The crowd are definitely keen on a fifth set. They urge Monfils on as he lulls a bit to get to 30-30, but then manages to pull himself through the game.

Berrettini back in the groove on serve to get to 40-0, but it's Monfils dominating from the back of the court now and he fires off a forehand winner to get into the game. Berrettini then goes long and suddenly it's deuce. Monfils feels the moment and blasts another winner. But Berrettini hits back with a good serve out wide and roars as he manages to close out a hold.

He's done it. To the delight of the crowd on Rod Laver Arena, Monfils closes out the third set and is firmly back in this contest. Berrettini had two break points in the third game of the set and then threw in a double fault at a crucial moment. Which way is this match going now?

Huge chance for Monfils to break for the first time in the match, but again he screams in frustration he nets a service return. The crowd want to see a break and Berrettini obliges with a very untimely double fault - his first of the match.

Monfils rattles through a love hold to get back in front in the third set. Berrettini, who has been on court much longer so far at this tournament than his opponent, does seem to have dropped off a little. Can Monfils take advantage?

Credit to Monfils, he is still giving this everything, going for his shots and finding the lines to get to 0-30. A couple of forehand errors bring Berrettini level, but the Italian then nets to present a break-point chance. Monfils screams in frustration as he can't connect properly with a backhand return, and Berrettini closes out another hold.

A little bit of a lull in the match and a drop in quality, until Berrettini lights it up with an excellent forehand winner to get to 30-30. Monfils then gets a net cord that sends his shot wide, but he saves break point after seeing two shots skim the top of the net. Monfils can't get out of the game quickly and has to save two more break points before flicking a volley away for a much-needed hold.

Berrettini drifts a bit and a few errors allow Monfils to get to deuce. The Frenchman is left cursing himself as he drags an easy forehand out of court, and Berrettini clinches the game with a serve out wide that Monfils can't get back. Still Monfils is yet to break the Berrettini serve.

Winner. Ace. Winner. A perfect start to the third set for Monfils, who has twice come from two sets down to win in five at the Australian Open.

No problems for the Italian to close out the set. He's only lost two points on serve after that epic 20-minute game. Can Monfils lift himself for another charge after the break?

Perhaps sensing the moment, Berrettini fires a superb backhand winner down the line to start the game. But Monfils, who is absolutely drenched with sweat, sticks away a volley at the net and then rips a backhand winner of his own down the line to hold.

FINALLY! Berrettini wins a 20-minute game with a big serve. How crucial could that hold be? Pressure on Monfils now.

Deuce No 8. Monfils has two chances to pass Berrettini at the net but the Italian comes up big with a couple of good volleys. He urges the crowd to show him some love after that, but still can't close out the game. We roll to deuce No 10 as the time for this one game approaches 20 minutes.

Fifth deuce of the game. Berretini whacks a forehand into the corner which Monfils can't get back. But Monfils then scrambles superbly, chasing down forehands and volleys before beating Berrettini at the net. The crowd are loving that and there's more drama to come as Monfils gets to deuce for a SEVENTH time in a monster game.
