WILLIAMS 2-2 RADWANSKA. There's a heck of a lot of sharpness from both sides of the court in these early stages. After Radwanska's impressive hold, Williams smashes down a couple of big serves and impressive forehands to hold again.

WILLIAMS 1-2 RADWANSKA. Three games, three holds and plenty of winners. The sixth seed slips in a trademark point-winning dropshot and two more uncharacteristic groundstroke winners to hold again. WILLIAMS 0-1 RADWANSKA. As the players dust the rust and cobwebs off after a day of wait, errors from both sides of the court bring them to deuce. However, a couple more Williams mistakes gives the Pole her first hold.
