Bencic 0-1 Sharapova. Sharapova holds her serve to take the first game. We’re speculating as to whether or not Sharapova still has the movement to survive this match, apparently.
For Sharapova, it's a bit "always the bridesmaid". She's won here once before in 2008, but has competed in four Australian Open finals.
This is the first meeting between Bencic and Sharapova. Sharapova, of course, the World No.5, Bencic just 18 years old, but a rising star on the tour at World No.13.
