Ashleigh Barty: "That was solid tonight. I had a lot of fun out here. I was able to serve and find a lot of forehands in the centre of the court and I was happy to take the game on, be aggressive on my forehand, not worry if I miss a couple, as long as I’m doing the right things."

BARTY 6-2 6-0 PEGULA
No problems serving it out for Barty, who continues to sweep through the draw and is into the semi-finals, where she will face another American, Madison Keys. Barty was not at her very best but didn't need to be against Pegula, who struggled to find her game.

This has not been a great showing so far from Pegula. She just can't seem to get going. At 30-30 she frames a smash and Barty then slices her way to another break. The world No 1 is in complete control of this match now.

BARTY *6-2 1-0 PEGULA
Pegula desperately needs a hold here. Still, though, she is struggling to find her top gear. Barty sees a break point come and go but some nice slice variation earns her another chance. Pegula saves with a much-needed winner, just her fourth of the match, and then fires down her first ace to save another. But Barty breaks at the fourth time of asking, putting away a smash after an excellent lob.

BARTY 6-2* PEGULA
Pegula looking a little "lost" says Jo Durie on commentary as Barty cruises to a love hold to take the opening set. An impressive service game to finish from Barty but if Pegula can raise her level a bit then there might be a way back into this for her.

BARTY *5-2 PEGULA
Barty has been far from her best in the last few games, but she secures a double break to take charge of the set. Pegula just isn't able to play consistently enough to hurt Barty at the moment and she nets twice in a row to give the game to the world No 1.

Solid start from Pegula as she gets 40-0 ahead. However, she then gets beaten at the net before Barty comes in on a good slice and wins the point. A missed volley from Pegula makes it deuce, and Barty then cranks up the spin to earn break point. Barty nets but gets another chance and this time she breaks.

It's been a long, long time since an Australian won in Melbourne. Chris O'Neill was the last player to do it way back in 1978. Barty has made the quarters twice and the semis once in the last three years. The winner of this quarter-final faces Madison Keys after she shocked fourth seed Barbora Krejcikova in straight sets.
