Dominic Thiem matched his best performance at the Australian Open with a straight-sets victory over Adrian Mannarino to reach the fourth round.
The Austrian showed few ill-effects from his five-setter against Denis Kudla in the second round, securing a 6-4 6-2 7-5 win on Margaret Court Arena.
“I want to go further than round four and I’ll give everything to do it for the first time,” he said on court afterwards.
Thiem will next face Tennys Sandgren, conqueror of Stan Wawrinka in the second round.
