David Goffin has been knocked out of the Australian Open second round by 36-year-old Julien Benneteau in four sets.

Goffin had ended 2017 with a final appearance in the ATP Finals, but he opened 2018 with an early Grand Slam exit when losing 1-6 7-6(5) 6-1 7-6(4) in Melbourne.
