Djokovic extends head-to-head record
In what was the pair’s record-extending 53rd meeting on the ATP Tour, Djokovic extended his record to 28-25 against Nadal.
Victory helped Djokovic make it four wins apiece when playing Nadal in a Grand Slam final, while it was his fifth win in their 15 meetings overall at the major four tournaments.
Their 53rd meeting was also their 25th in a Tour final. Djokovic now leads their head to head in finals 15-10.
This was the first Grand Slam final meeting to the pair which ended in straight sets.
The final also lasted just two hours and four minutes, some three hours and 49 minutes shorter than their epic 2012 final meeting in Melbourne.
