Novak Djokovic secured a seventh Australian Open title with a 6-3 6-2 6-3 victory over great rival Rafael Nadal. Here are the numbers behind his stunning victory.

The final in numbers

Djokovic hit 34 winners to Nadal’s 21, and just nine unforced errors to the Spaniard’s 28.
Djokovic converted five out of eight break point opportunities, and saved the only one he offered to Nadal in the third set.
A supreme performance on serve saw Djokovic win 40 points out of 50, with a first-serve percentage of 72%.
In contrast, Nadal won just 24 of 47 points on serve, with a first-serve percentage of 64%.
Djokovic sent down eight aces and no doubt faults, while Nadal hit three aces to two double faults.

Djokovic extends head-to-head record

In what was the pair’s record-extending 53rd meeting on the ATP Tour, Djokovic extended his record to 28-25 against Nadal.
Victory helped Djokovic make it four wins apiece when playing Nadal in a Grand Slam final, while it was his fifth win in their 15 meetings overall at the major four tournaments.

Djokovic gives thumbs up after 'outstanding' Nadal drop shot

Their 53rd meeting was also their 25th in a Tour final. Djokovic now leads their head to head in finals 15-10.
This was the first Grand Slam final meeting to the pair which ended in straight sets.
The final also lasted just two hours and four minutes, some three hours and 49 minutes shorter than their epic 2012 final meeting in Melbourne.
