Great Britain defeated Canada 3-2 in the first round of the Davis Cup as Denis Shapovalov defaulted against Kyle Edmund in the decider after smashing the umpire with the ball.
The drama came in the third set when a frustrated Shapovalov smashed the ball away and caught umpire Arnaud Gabas square in the face with a vicious hit.
Shapovalov was defaulted and Great Britain were handed the 3-2 win. GB will face France in the quarter-finals.
"I'm ashamed, it was unacceptable," Shapovalov said afterwards.
Earlier in the day, Dan Evans was beaten by Vasek Pospisil which meant that the tie would go to a decider.
