Novak Djokovic continued to fine tune his game ahead of the Davis Cup final with a crushing 6-4 6-2 win over Latvia's Ernests Gulbis in Basel.
The Serb is the defending champion in Switzerland but he admitted after the match that he is already looking ahead to the Davis Cup decider against France next month.
"My main goal and ambition is to win the Davis Cup," said Djokovic. "It's like that for all of our players. Our country didn't have such a long tennis tradition until two or three years ago.
"Now we've had some big success and now the fans live for tennis."
The other Serbs in the tournament also showed good form with Janko Tipsarevic beating Denis Istomin 6-2 6-4 and Viktor Troicki downing Michael Berrer 6-3 6-0.
Richard Gasquet showed there was one Frenchman in form too with a comfortable 6-3 6-1 victory over Lu Yen-hsun.
Meanwhile, sixth seed Marin Cilic is safely into the next round after a 6-3 6-3 win over Marco Chiudinelli.
Hometown hero Roger Federer is the tournament's top seed, with Djokovic seeded second.
