Jelena Jankovic will meet Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the final of the Monterrey Open as the former world number one looks for her first WTA tour title in almost a year.
The top-seeded Serb beat Polona Hercog of Slovenia 6-3 6-2 and will face the second seeded Russian who defeated Gisela Dulko of Argentina 6-4 6-1.
"It's going to be tough but I feel good. I always try to be optimistic. I'm already happy to be in the final," Jankovic said after taking 70 minutes to beat an opponent ranked 56 places lower.
Jankovic broke her opponent on three occasions to reach her 25th WTA Tour final but her first in 10 months.
Defending champion Pavlyuchenkova won nine of the last 10 games to set-up a second career clash with Jankovic, the 19-year-old winning their only previous meeting 6-4 6-4 at Indian Wells in 2009.
