Who has got the best serve ever? Serena Williams' former coach Patrick Mouratoglou has compiled his top five, with Nick Kyrgios leading the list. John Isner, Andy Roddick, Ivo Karlovic and Pete Sampras also make the top five, but there is no place for Roger Federer or Goran Ivanisevic. Kyrgios is not playing Indian Wells this week as he continues to recover from surgery.

Renowned tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou has rated Nick Kyrgios’ serve as the best he has ever seen on the ATP Tour.
Kyrgios has one of the most powerful serves on the ATP Tour and last season fired down 747 aces in just 47 matches.
His serve is one of his biggest weapons and was one of the reasons why Kyrgios enjoyed a career-best year in 2022, winning one singles title, the Australian Open doubles title, and reaching his first Grand Slam singles final at Wimbledon.
Serena Williams’ former coach Mouratoglou feels when it comes to serving, Kyrgios is at the top of the game.
“Kyrgios is No. 1 because players return much better today and he’s undoubtedly the current best,” Mouratoglou said on Instagram.
Coming in behind Kyrgios in Mouratoglou’s top-five servers of all time on the ATP Tour is John Isner.
The American led the tour last year with 895 aces in just 40 matches and holds the ATP record for the fastest-ever serve at 253 km/h (157.2 mph).
“He played the longest match in tennis history [at Wimbledon in 2010] and he wasn’t broken for eight hours in a row,” said Mouratoglou.
Third on Mouratoglou’s list is Andy Roddick.
Roddick, who is the most recent American man to win a Grand Slam with his 2003 US Open victory, had a rocket serve that once hit 155mph.
“Andy had the most violent way to hit a serve in tennis history,” said Mouratouglou.
Following Roddick is Ivo Karlovic, who held the all-time record for career aces with 13,728 before it was broken by Isner in 2022.
Mouratouglou said: “Thanks to his height, he made a great career mostly based on his serve.”
In fifth place on the list is Pete Sampras.
“Pete had the most unpredictable and unreadable serve both on first and second,” was Mouratouglo’s verdict.

Roger Federer did not make Patrick Mouratoglou's list

Goran Ivanisevic might feel unfortunate not to make the list considering he is widely regarded to have one of the best serves in history.
Roger Federer’s serve was also a huge strength of his, even though it was not as fast as the likes of Ivanisevic, Roddick and Isner.
Kyrgios is not playing Indian Wells this week as he continues to recover from surgery.
