Rafael Nadal’s day went from bad to worse yesterday, according to a tweet by Great Britain Olympic legend, Sir Chris Hoy.

Nadal failed to take home a medal in the men’s singles event at Rio, after he was beaten 6-2 6-7 6-3 by Kei Nishikori, who took the bronze on Sunday.
Adding insult to injury, Hoy broke the news that Nadal had been rejected by a Chinese restaurant in Rio. With Hoy cheekily pondering whether or not gold medalist Andy Murray would have suffered the same fate.
It’s not all doom and gloom for Rafa, however. Despite failing to make it to the gold medal match in the singles event after Juan Martin del Potro – the eventual silver medalist – he did take home a gold in the men’s doubles for Spain, with team mate Marc Lopez.
