Mikhail Youzhny was in upbeat mood, despite his US Open semi-final defeat to Andy Roddick on Saturday evening. Wins over Tommy Robredo and Rafael Nadal helped the Russian to achieve his best grand slam effort, something from which Youzhny says he will tak
"It's the best tournament of my career," he said in a postmatch news conference. "A Grand Slam is something different, it's not like a normal tournament.
"If somebody two weeks ago told me I would be leaving two weeks later, on Sunday, I would have said, 'hey, is joke, is joke of the year.
"Of course I am happy it's my first semis. For me it is important that my game improves. Now, I saw the result of my work, of the work of my coach, of my team.
"I can understand I can beat very good players. I can beat very good players not every day, but not only one per tournament.
"I think it's the best tournament in my career."
