Andy Murray: Amelie Mauresmo will be at Wimbledon despite imminent baby

Mauresmo will not be at Queen's Club next week, but the French Open semi-finalist will be at Wimbledon before going off on maternity leave to have her first baby in August.

"It’s good. Obviously I like having her around the tournaments. It’s been, for me, a very good start to the year," said Murray, who made the final of the Australian Open before winning two clay court events and making the semi-finals at Wimbledon.

Murray added that he is glad his recent appointment Jonas Bjorkman will be able to pick Mauresmo's brains before she concentrates on impending motherhood.

"I think it’s good as well that, before she is away for a few months from the team, her and Jonas [Bjorkman] can spend some time together," he added.

"I would imagine that during Wimbledon Amélie will take the lead and Jonas can see how we operate a bit more as a team.

"We know each other a lot better than we did at this time last year. So I think she’ll be able to help more this year.”

Speaking ahead of the Wimbledon curtain-raiser at Queen's, which is live on British Eurosport, Murray also revealed that he was suffering from an illness that affected his eyes during his French Open run.

“I felt OK the first few days. When I got on court and started running around it was fine. But then when I got back [to London] my left eyelid closed up and I was just ill, had a bad cough for a couple of days after that as well.

"I don’t know if I was just run down or tired or whatever. It had obviously been a long few weeks but I feel fine now.”
